For the third consecutive year and the fourth
time in the last five seasons, the University of Houston football
team is going bowling—as participants in the 2007 Texas Bowl.
The Cougars, who finished the season with an 8-4
(6-2 C-USA) record, will clash with an old foe, the Texas Christian
University Horned Frogs. And the most intriguing part of this year’s
postseason action is the location—Houston. more

UH has developed a multi-year Quality
Enhancement Plan (QEP) to improve student learning— “Reality-based
Learning: Transforming the Undergraduate Experience through Research.”
The reality-based learning initiative is focused on providing opportunities
and resources for integrating research and inquiry-based learning
into the undergraduate experience - including more opportunities
for students to work on real-world team projects in their courses.
Alumni are invited to visit the QEP
Feedback site to review the Draft QEP Report and share their
feedback during the open comment period: Dec. 20, 2007 – Jan.

NAMED COOGS’ NEW HEAD COACH Last week, UH Athletics
Director Dave Maggard named Kevin Sumlin as the University of Houston’s
new head football coach. Sumlin becomes the 11th head coach in UH
history, and the first African-American to lead the Cougar program.

QUARTERBACK NAMED C-USA FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR University of
Houston redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum was recently selected
as the Consensus 2007 Conference USA Freshman of the Year. He was
also named Honorable Mention, Freshman All-America byThe Sporting
News. more
UH SLAMS KENTUCKY; MATCHES BEST START EVER
The University of Houston men's basketball team won its ninth consecutive
game and improved its record to 10-1 with an 83-69 victory over
the University of Kentucky earlier this week at Hofheinz Pavilion.
