KHATOR BEGINS FIRST 100 DAYS

Dr. Khator speaks with studentsIn her first two weeks at the helm, President Renu Khator’s schedule has been a busy and active one. Khator began her first day as University of Houston System chancellor and UH president by personally greeting students and staff at the university’s Welcome Center, Bookstore, and Philip Guthrie Hoffman Hall. She also visited several classrooms throughout the UH campus; she was on hand for the naming ceremony of Bauer College’s Center for Entrepreneurship; she provided an hour-long interview to the university’s student newspaper, The Daily Cougar; and wrapped up her day by attending a faculty reception.

“It’s very exciting to not just hear about a new president coming to the University of Houston, but to actually see her out on campus interacting with students,” said junior Gus Forward. “President Khator really wants to hear from everyone and it’s great to see her already involved in so many things here at UH.”

Since her first day, Khator has participated in a number of events and activities both on and off campus including a staff reception, a meeting with Chinese executives, a UH basketball game and a visit to Austin to meet with state legislators.

During her first 100 days as president and chancellor, Khator is seeking innovative ideas that will help the University of Houston chart its course toward becoming a nationally competitive, top-tier research university.

“My hope is that students, faculty, alumni, civic and industry leaders, legislators and members of the broader community will all contribute to this effort,” she said.  “The warm welcome that I have received has been absolutely amazing and I want to invite everyone to join me in being a part of this university’s bright future.”
