KHATOR BEGINS FIRST 100 DAYS
In her first two weeks at the helm, President Renu Khator’s schedule has been a busy and active one. Khator began her first day as University of Houston System chancellor and UH president by personally greeting students and staff at the university’s Welcome Center, Bookstore, and Philip Guthrie Hoffman Hall. She also visited several classrooms throughout the UH campus; she was on hand for naming ceremony of Bauer College’s Center for Entrepreneurship; she provided an hour-long interview to the university’s student newspaper, The Daily Cougar; and wrapped up her day by attending a faculty reception.  more

BAUER ANNOUNCES CYVIA AND MELVYN WOLFF CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP A nationally ranked center at the C. T. Bauer College of Business is continuing its tradition of excellence with a new name. Formerly the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, the center will now be known as the Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.   more

John RudleyRUDLEY NAMED SOLE FINALIST FOR TSU PRESIDENCY
Dr. John Rudley, the University of Houston’s vice president for administration and finance, was named the sole finalist for the Texas Southern University presidency. Rudley recently served as interim University of Houston System chancellor and UH president.  more

ARTS OFF TO ROARING START IN 2008
At the beginning of 2008, the University of Houston’s arts programs are ready to roar. To kick off the spring semester, UH is hosting the debut of an ambitious multi-media exhibition and a stage favorite with a brand new sound.  more

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES APPROACHING
The Houston Alumni Organization and its constituent associations and clubs awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to students at the University of Houston last year! Incoming freshmen who are children and grandchildren of UH alumni are encouraged to continue the family legacy and are invited to apply for one of six $4,000 Legacy Scholarships. Many other types of scholarships are also available, with the majority of application deadlines in early March.

TRACK AND FIELD HITS THE ROAD
The University of Houston track and field team made its first road trip of 2008 this past weekend. The Cougars traveled to Arkansas for the Arkansas Invitational, site of the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships. The Cougars were one of 43 schools to compete in the two-day meet and posted 19 top-ten finishes.  more

Dean Joseph Tedesco Joseph Tedesco is the new dean of the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston. Tedesco was selected as the college’s sixth dean in August 2007 and officially began his appointment at the beginning of this year. more
