FRONTIER FIESTA 2008
It’s officially spring, and as most Cougars know, that means
it’s time for the “greatest college show on earth” to
make its return to the University of Houston campus. Make your plans
now to experience a bit of history, culture and various forms of
entertainment by taking part in one of the University of Houston’s
most cherished traditions—Frontier Fiesta.
This annual Texas-style event, which is led by UH students, is being
held March 27-29. And no matter who you are, Frontier Fiesta 2008
promises to be fun for everyone.
Bring out the entire family to take a
stroll through our authentic western town—
Fiesta City— and join
the thousands of guests that will be on hand to enjoy the variety
shows, carnival booths, numerous exhibits, great food and live concerts.
The history of Frontier Fiesta dates back
to 1940, and what’s
truly special about the student-led festival is that it’s all
for a good cause. Each year the Frontier Fiesta Association gives
ten scholarships to deserving incoming freshman and current UH students.
These scholarships not only reward academic achievement, but also
recognize outstanding efforts in community service. Over the last
twelve years Frontier Fiesta has awarded more than $58,000 in scholarships.
Last year, a total of $10,000 was granted to UH students!
Make sure you don't miss out on one the most exciting events in
Houston. This year may very well be the biggest Frontier Fiesta ever,
so throw on your western gear and be a part of the fun at Frontier
Fiesta 2008.
For details on all of the events, check out the official Frontier
Fiesta Web site at: www.uh.edu/fiesta.
