UH Alumnus Honored by Jaycees

Judge Reece RondonJudge Reece Rondon ('92, J.D. '95), of the 234th District Court of Harris County, was recently named by the Houston Jaycees as one of the Five Outstanding Young Houstonians for 2007. He was also selected as one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans by the Texas Jaycees. The awards are based on extraordinary achievements in community service, business, the arts, politics, and athletics. Rondon is very active throughout the Houston community and currently serves as a Houston Alumni Organization board member.

“I never imagined that giving something back to the community could lead to receiving an award; it just seemed like the ‘right’ thing to do,” Rondon said. “I’ve had the good fortune of having opportunities to serve and volunteer in various ways. Nevertheless, I am honored and humbled by being recognized by the Houston Jaycees as well as the Texas Jaycees.”

HAO Offers Holiday Cards

Alumni Holiday CardsAdd some Cougar spirit to your holidays this year. The Houston Alumni Organization (HAO), once again, is offering UH-themed personalized holiday cards for purchase.

There are eight beautiful, glossy images to choose from, many of which were photographed on the UH campus. The images can be mixed and matched into a box of 24 cards, or one image can be chosen for all 24 cards. A box of holiday cards costs only $26.95. The inside of each card can also be personalized with greetings, closings, fonts and ink colors.

“The UH holiday cards are a truly unique offering – you can’t find this kind of thing anywhere else,” said Joy Wagman, HAO’s vice president of membership, marketing and communication. “Much thought was put into creating images that would be popular with various types of Cougar faithful.” For more information or to purchase cards, please visit www.myCougarConnection.com/cards.
