Well-Read

Tomorrow’s great writers, today. That’s the promise of a new reading series launched by Inprint Inc., creators of the justly famous Inprint - Brown Reading Series. To provide a more intimate experience for Houston readers, and to introduce emerging writers, Inprint looked to UH’s Creative Writing Program. Four former students of the CWP will anchor the Inprint Studio Series, which debuted in September. Farnoosh Moshiri (MFA '00), Andrew Feld (MFA '98), Pimone Triplett, and Emily Fox Gordon will read their works of fiction, poetry, and memoir in modest, comfortable venues like the UH Honors College and Diverseworks’ studio. The public is welcome and the readings are free. Next up, Farnoosh Moshiri, October 19, 6 p.m. at the Honors College Commons. Publishers Weekly called her novel Against Gravity “poignant...it carefully observes the effects of loss on three people in 1980s Houston.”

What Color Is Your Parachute?
Cougar Red, of Course.

UH alumni will have the opportunity to learn from Richard Nelson Bolles, author of the best-selling career advancement book What Color Is Your Parachute?, at the upcoming Experienced Alumni Recruitment & Career Management Conference.  The two-day event will be held on campus at the Athletics/Alumni Center on Nov. 17-18.

Designed for Cougar alumni who want to advance in current jobs, transfer skills to a new field, or explore more meaningful career options, the conference will bring together a community of experienced and like-minded, well-educated professionals.  Included will be “speed recruitment” roundtables, informal mealtime networking, panels of staffing experts, twelve interactive workshops, well-known speakers, and a town hall meeting facilitated by industry experts.

The conference is presented by seasonedPRO and sponsored by University Career Services, the Houston Alumni Organization, and the C.T. Bauer College of Business. Click here to register.
