Three-Time UH Grad Receives Woman of Distinction Honor

Cheryl Creuzot (’81, J.D. ’92, L.L.M. ’99) is doing a great job of distinguishing Cougar alumni from the rest of the pack. Creuzot was recently honored by Houston's ABC/Channel 13 as a 2008 Woman of Distinction, along with 11 other women.

The announcement was made on October 11 during a celebration at Saks Fifth Avenue by past Woman of Distinction, Channel 13 news anchor Melanie Lawson. Honorees are chosen based on their community involvement, leadership, and dedication toward impacting the lives of others. Creuzot will be officially recognized at the Women of Distinction’s 2008 Winter Ball, held on January 19 at the Hilton Americas. The annual gala benefits the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

“Being selected as a 2008 Woman of Distinction is indeed a privilege because there were so many others who deserve to be honored,” Creuzot said. “I feel that this recognition exemplifies the efforts and important contributions that so many Houston women have made in the community, and it is truly heartwarming to be recognized in such a special way.”

Creuzot exudes Cougar spirit by serving as chair of the Houston Alumni Organization’s board of directors, and she is involved with many other organizations throughout the city, including serving as Vice Chair of the Houston Museum of African American Culture. In her “day job,” she is president & CEO of Wealth Development Strategies. The UH alumna is also a member of the Financial Planning Association, the Million Dollar Round Table and the State Bar of Texas.
