1980s

James W. Adams (J.D. ’81) published Noble Savage, a collection of poetry.

Peter Röhe Barthelme (’89) is managing partner of Röhe & Wright Builders. The company has won multiple 2006 PRISM Awards, recognizing Houston’s top home builders. Röhe & Wright received awards for Custom Home of the Year (in two price categories), Custom Home Kitchen of the Year, and Town Home/Multiplex of the Year.


Bob Bozka

Bob Bozka (’85), investment representative, has been named a principal with the Jones Financial Companies, LLP. Bozka was one of only fifty-five individuals chosen from more than 32,000 associates worldwide.


J. Bridgewater

J. Downey Bridgwater (’84), president and chief executive officer of Sterling Bank, has been named chairman of the board of directors for Sterling Bancshares, Inc. Bridgwater was a recipient of the 2005 Houston Alumni Organization Distinguished Service Award.

David Casey (’84) has been named vice president of worldwide sales for California Micro Devices.

Edgardo “Edgar” Colón (’80, M.B.A. ’84, J.D. ’84, Ph.D. ’00, Ph.D. ’03) has been elected chairman of the board of directors for the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Cheryl Creuzot (’81, J.D. ’92, LL.M. ’99) has been inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2006 Houston Chronicle Best Dressed Luncheon, benefiting the March of Dimes.


Terry Cross

Terry Cross (’86, M.B.A. ’95) has joined Houston-based Million Air as its chief operating officer.


Patty and Jorge

Patty Godfrey (’89), president of the UH Fort Bend Alumni Club, and Jorge Quinoes (’04) gave a proud Cougar sign after finishing the Chevron Houston Marathon.

Sally Gutierrez (’80) has been appointed director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development, National Risk Management Research Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the first Hispanic female to be appointed to this leadership position.

Becky L. Jolin (J.D. ’88) has been elected partner by Thompson & Knight, LLP.

ConSandra Jones (’84) has published her second book, Wisdom for the Journey, teaching empowering life lessons and offering advice.

Scott Leitko (’87) has been appointed vice president of engineering for Alliance Engineering.

Lou Martini Jr. (’84) has joined the cast of the “family” in this season’s HBO series “The Sopranos.” Martini plays Anthony Infante on the show.

Dominic Ng (’80), chairman, president, and CEO of East West Bancorp, Inc., has been elected to Mattel, Inc.’s board of directors.

Robert T. Ray (M.B.A. ’84) has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Houston Exploration Company.

Michael Rivera (’80), principal of Houston-based Northwest General Insurance, has been named president of the Texas Association of Health Underwriters.

Greg Robertson (’87) was named chief development officer for the Houston Grand Opera.

Steve Stephens (’80), executive vice president of Amegy Bank, was a featured speaker at the fourth annual Teachers Excellence Awards banquet.

Michael K. Stewart (M.B.A. ’82) has been elected vice president of accounting and controller for Marathon Oil Company.

Kenneth R. Trammell (’84) has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer at Tenneco.

Steven VanFleet (M.B.A. ’82) has been named
president and CEO of RewardsNOW.

Judy Warne (J.D. ’83) has been appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve as Harris County 257th Family Judicial District Court judge.

Karen Wilkson (’83, M.M. ’85) and her students at Pilgrim Lutheran School have won the Consumer Aerosol Products Counsel’s “National Science Class Challenge.”

Randa Duncan Williams (J.D. ’88) has joined Encore Bank’s board of directors.


Daniel Wong

Daniel Wong (’83, M.S. ’85, Ph.D. ’88), Sugar Land at-large city councilman, has been appointed to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers by Governor Rick Perry.

Joe Wong (’83, M.B.A. ’87) has joined Harcourt Assessment as vice president of information services.

John Michael Zak (’84) is vice president of corporate services for Visual Numerics, Inc. The company’s headquarters is moving back to Houston.


Pride in the desert: Army Specialist Blake K. LeBlanc (’04) waves the Cougar flag from atop his tank in Dora, Iraq—south of Baghdad. He began basic training just one month after graduating with a B.B.A. in management and plans to return to UH for his master’s. LeBlanc has served in Iraq since 2005 and will return December 2006 just in time, he says, for Cougar baseball.

Cougar Bride: Kristin McDonald (’06) posed for her bridal portrait in front of the E. Cullen Building. She married Michael King July 15.
