  William C. Miller, Jr.

Impact of One
"He Wouldn't Let Me Quite."

William C. Miller Jr. (’55) struggled to earn his petroleum engineering degree, but Charles V. Kirkpatrick, former Cullen College of Engineering dean and professor, convinced him to persevere.

Because of his mentor’s impact on his life more than fifty years ago, Miller recently gave $1 million to establish the William C. Miller Endowed Chair of Engineering. “Without his guidance and encouragement, I may not have completed my education,” says Miller.

The eighty-five-year-old has run the San Antonio-based W.C. Miller Operating Company for more than forty years and is now impacting the lives of many through his endowment.
