Peter Gonzalez
He prefers pencil and paper
to a PC, and he describes himself as technologically challenged.
But since his days at the University of Houston, Peter
Gonzalez (’74, M.B.A. ’94, J.D. ’94)
has been on the fast track. A certified public accountant
and a certified internal auditor, he also juggles all legal
matters as the secretary/ treasurer (general counsel and
chief financial and administrative officer) of Dynasol
LLC, a worldwide producer and marketer of synthetic rubber.
As an only child, he considers UH his surrogate family.
And for nearly forty years, he’s been helping to
ensure that the current generation of his Cougar family
can be their very best through his annual gifts to UH. “I
also intend to leave my legacy at UH by helping future
Cougars.” He’s included the university in his
estate plan, specifically his will, which will support
the C.T. Bauer College of Business, the UH Law Center,
and the M.D. Anderson Library.
“I get uncomfortable with getting too comfortable,” says
Gonzalez. “You have to stretch yourself to be the
best you can be.” Practicing what he preaches, Gonzalez
is now taking weekend classes through UH Continuing Education
to learn the extremely difficult language of Mandarin— he’s
already fluent in Spanish and French.
“I believe in the original intent of the Cullens—to
make UH a great university for the working men and women
of Houston,” Gonzalez says. “My education would
not have happened if it wasn’t for their vision.
UH provided me with a first-class education.” |
