In 1927 Houston Junior College, the predecessor of the University
of Houston, opened its doors to 232 students, marking the beginning
of what would become the University of Houston System (University
of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, University of
Houston-Downtown, and University of Houston-Victoria).
The 1927 Society was created to honor and recognize
special supporters who make a planned or a deferred gift to
one of the four UH System universities through a bequest in
their wills and through other planned gifts such as gift annuities,
charitable trusts, retirement plans, and life insurance policies.
Gifts from members of The 1927 Society are making
a difference in academic and research initiatives throughout
the UH System. Planned gift donors can select the area, such
as a college, school, program, department, etc., within their
specific university that they wish their gift to benefit. The
following planned giving options entitle donors to membership
in the The 1927 Society.
Options for Your Charitable Legacy
The most common donations are outright gifts, such as cash,
securities, or personal property, which the university receives
right away. If you want to hold on to money and other assets
for now, to ensure your family’s needs are met, the four universities
of the UH System offer excellent alternatives. One of the following
options may be right for you.
